I'm sure it'll be no surprise to anyone reading this that that obviously didn't happen. In the interview they told me there would be room to move up in the company and essentially gave me an outline of how the first year of the job could work out and how I would be taking on more responsibilities and with my advertising degree I would have the opportunity to assist the marketing team. I applied to the job I have now on a whim because my girlfriend and I we're planning on moving in together and the new job was closer to the apartment. After graduating I stayed at the dealership and eventually was "promoted" to photographer which resulted in the same base pay and a small bonus every 2 weeks for hitting a target amount of vehicles photographed. Since my school went on strike I got a job at a car dealership being a lot guy which started me on this string of dead-end minimum wage jobs. I make $18 an hour right now which I feel like is a very low number for someone my age. My internship year my school went on strike, I had a ton of trouble finding an internship, my program coordinators ignored me when I asked for help and I ended up having to do my internship with a family friend which resulted in me basically doing nothing at all and just getting the hours "written in" (probably one of the biggest mis-steps I've taken in the past few years). I have a Bachelor of Creative Advertising Degree which is essentially useless unless you have connections at ad agencies which I do not. Onboarding Analyst is just a blanket term they give everyone who works in my department, in actuality I take photos of cars all day. I'm currently 26 years old working as an "Onboarding Analyst" at a start-up that sells cars online. If you need immediate help please call the National Suicide Hotline, 1-80.
